“Gratitude can transform commons days in thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” – William Arthur Ward.
Life is full of the unexpected; one day everything is going as planned and the next, it feels like hell is taking over. We cannot control what’s to happen, we can only control how we react. Lately I’ve been feeling very blessed even in bad situations. I’ve been gaining opportunities with my blog to attend events, collaborate with clothing companies, network with other bloggers and peers in the digital community. All of these opportunities seems so unreal to me. Makes me wonder why I waited so long to begin, but I have faith in timing and this is my time. I cannot only praise the good situations. For the past 2 years I have been driving a 2007 mini cooper and have grown to despise the car, from the size, to the ride, to the problems that follow old cars with a lot of miles, it seemed as though I was counting the days until the car gave up on me. It was 5:100pm on Friday and I was excited to leave work, heading out onto the highway I got into a car accident. Nothing major but according to the insurance company the cost of the repairs exceeded the total worth of the car. So you know what that means… NEW CAR! The insurance company wrote me a check for the cars worth and off to the dealership I went to pick up my new 2015 Hyundai Sonata. As stated before, I have faith in timing and this is my time. In good situations and in bad, there is always a blessing to be found, whether you take notice of it right away or if it comes to you later on.
I’ve never been a selfish person, I take notice in what’s given to me and have the heart to share with others. With that being said, I feel its important to share blessings with others, whether you are sharing information, helping someone in need, or giving back financially, etc. Steve Maraboli said “A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.” While feeling abundantly blessed and taking note of all the opportunities that have been awarded to me, I knew I had to share and give back. I saw this idea on Facebook and decided to get to work. Unfortunately in Miami and like everywhere in the world, there are a lot of homeless people living on the street. I wanted to do more than just give them a few dollars, so I went to Dollar Tree picked up some goodies and made these care packages. The items I purchased were: Water, Fruit cereal bar, Fruit cups, Juice boxes, Pop tarts, Nature Valley bars, Gum , Tooth paste, Tooth brush, Tooth brush holders, Hand sanitizer, Antibacterial whips, Socks and Chap stick. $25.00 later I made enough packages to help 6 people. What I loved most about this idea is it shows genuine concern and compassion. I almost never have small bills on me let alone any cash to give when I see someone in need, or have time to feed someone who is hungry. With these packages I can keep them in my car and whenever I see someone in need I can hand one out. No excuses !
I plan on continuing this idea for months to come and hopefully grow the idea within the community. If you are interested in joining me, please feel free to contact me. I encourage everyone to take note of their blessings, give thanks and most of all, GIVE BACK in whatever way suits your lifestyle best.
Love & Light!
