On Saturday March 12, 2016 four bloggers including myself had the pleasure of curating a closet for Macy’s Get Glam and Get Going styling event at Dadeland Mall. The concept for my closet was Art Matters, which completely fits my sense of style. My Art Matters closet was inspired by 70’s trends, bright colors, and funky patters. With options such as Rachel Roy, Michael Kor’s, Calvin Klein, Vince Camuto, Free People and Eillen Fisher it was no problem filling my closet full of the season’s hottest trends; the best part was every garment selected was chosen right from Macy’s inventory! With the arrival of spring now’s a perfect time to get some spring inspiration and create some vibrate chic looks. In addition to shoppers getting to play in our closets, they also enjoyed complimentary Starbucks drinks, flavored water by BLISS, yummy bites, massages, manicures and makeup makeovers. Talk about the best afternoon EVER!
My Art Matters closet!
Our host, Nikki Novo and bloggers Zeinab Kristen, Francesca Belluomini and Mei Jorge who also curate their own fabulous closets with trends that suited their own personal style. Be sure to check out their recaps of the event and see what great pieces filled their closets.
Along with curating a closet, each blogger got to style a model in attire that fit their closet. Everyone meet my model Lia of A Girl in Her Thirties ! Lia was dressed in a Bar III top and pant! It was love at first sight when I was shopping the store for pieces and I just knew it was the perfect representation of my closet. Vibrant colors, chic cut and sophisticated! Not to mention how fabulous Lia looks! What I loved most about styling Lia is she really got to step outside of her comfort zone with this vibrant stripped outfit. She is used to playing it safe and sticking to soft colors. I was honored that she trusted me enough to let me add some color to her wardrobe and try something that may have been more daring. Safe to say, she LOVED the outfit, felt beautiful and confident! I mean, how else should your clothes make you feel 😉
Each blogger also got glammed up by a makeup brand especially catered to their closets. I was excited to find out that the brand chosen for me was Estee Lauder. I asked for a soft neutral look so it did not clash with my colorful outfit and Joel Rod did an amazing job. He applied a soft couture, shimmery highlight and a soft neutral lip. Special thanks to Estee Lauder at Macy’s for making me extra pretty for the big day!
Talk about the best host ever! Nikki did an outstanding job keeping the crowd entertained and interactive during this event. Each blogger was able to share the details behind the concepts of their closet with the guest explaining what trends they found throughout Macy’s including some of the hottest designer options. We shared how one could style their favorite pieces from head to toe and some Do’s and Dont’s for this spring. We also showcased some of our most favorite pieces. I choose some pieces from Rachel Roy (who also just celebrate the launch of her extended sizes. Yay more plus size options!!!) Everything about this Rachel Roy set called to me! From the bright spring colors, to the 70’s inspired skirt with button details and also being able to mix and match different pieces to create the perfect look.
