I told myself when I started my blog that I didn’t want my blog to be your typical everyday fashion blog just showcasing the latest fashion trends. I wanted it to be an outlet for creativity and to inspire others. Then time passed, boxes of clothes starting piling up at my front door, emails were getting overlooked and the creativity just had to pause. But thanks to my dear friend time management, I’ve had a lot more time to reflect on the path my blog is taking and find time to do other creative post. So here is to first times! *pops champagne*
I had this concept lingering around for quite some time now. The idea just seems so majestic and rich.
The desire of gold is not for gold. It is for the means of freedom and benefit – Ralph Waldo Emerson
This quote stuck out like a sore thumb. Is he really talking about gold or is he using it metaphorically? Possibly both. The desire of gold; could gold be anything?
What if he meant for gold to be anything you wanted, anything beyond your wildest dreams. It’s not about the physical, but maybe following your heart and fulfilling your desires. Could one gain freedom and benefit?
Yes I believe so. I feel at times we get so caught up in everyone else’s life, and what everyone else is doing that we forget what we want and we fail to grab life by the horns and make a way for ourselves. We get some comfortable in what we think is the “norm”. Maybe we are intimidated by the success of others, or we feel that someone is already in a lane we want to be in or maybe we feel that the things we truly want are not obtainable. BUT if we never try to reach for the things we want, how will we ever get the GOLD!? As my one year blogiversary approaches, I reflect on all the doubt I had, all the thoughts that ran through my mind before hitting the publish button. If I decided to let my doubts and fears have control over me, I would’ve never known this kind of success and freedom. I would’ve never had an outlet to express myself and never have been able to reap all the benefits that have come from the launch of my blog.
Oh, how a leap of faith can go a long way!
Sometimes you need to leap in faith and just know that you WILL have success, you WILL know true freedom and you WILL reap all the benefits.
Go for the GOLD!
